PHRA NANG BEACH
หาดพระนาง

December 2015 • Canon 60D camera

After spending a week in Malaysia, we crossed the border into Thailand, driving to the popular region of Krabi กระบี่. The area is known for its white sandy beaches, limestones karst and clear turquoise sea. We were staying at Ao Nanag, a lively beach town filled with restaurants, shops and bars.

More importantly, it was a few steps to the beach and a gateway to other beaches nearby. Arguably the “most beautiful beach” here is Phra Nang beach, which you can get to by long tail boat. The boat ride takes around 10 minutes and is a great way to see the Rai Lay อ่าวไร่เลย์ (Railay) peninsula.

I'm not much of a beach goer, but it was wonderful to relax on the soft sand surrounded by the crystal clear sea and limestone karst. Koh Rang Nok island is right in front of the beach which you can swim up to if you like. We had arrived around 10:30am and by 11:30am it started to get crowded.

As you can imagine, the weather was nice and hot, and a dip in the water helped cool me off. There was a selection of long tail boats that acted as restaurants to buy delicious Thai food and drinks whenever you wanted.

Beach cave

Another interesting part of Phra Nang beach is a large cave which you can wonder through and climb up a path to a viewpoint overseeing other beaches in the surrounding area. I did not have any footwear to go up the path so I gave the viewpoint a miss.
