Venice and its Lagoon
Venice has many, many churches. You could probably spend a week just visiting churches. Below are some photos that we took while we were exploring the city. Not all Churches allow photography, so bear that in mind when visiting. Most of the time it felt inappropriate to photograph inside when there were people praying, so we rarely took pictures.
St. Mark's Basilica
Sitting in the eastern end of the Pizza San Morco, near the Doge’s Palace, this Cathedral is a great example of Italian–Byzantine architecture. Because of the mix of eastern and western architecture styles, it is quite unique in the city of Venice.
Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari
This church can be found in the heart of the San Polo district. Inside, is the famous altarpiece panel painting by Italian artist Titian, the Assumption of the Virgin. It was painted in 1515–18 and was original in style for the Venetian people at that time.
